WHERE I'M FROM

WALT write poetry, just like George Ella Lyon.  We can use line starters 'I am from'.  Our poems help the reader to visualise what we think we had in our childhood.  We have included toys, sayings, TV shows, treats, memories and much much more.  Our poems end with a line like Lyons example about a family tree or family photos.
We have edited ourselves, then with Mrs T.  Afterwards we have published our writing in our 'beautiful' publishing books.
Check out our writing and presentation skills.

Water

When I was four years old I was outside riding my bike when it hit me…… a water balloon. I didn’t know where it came from until I looked at my bro.  As I ran to the hose I think to myself: he cant possibly win this battle now that I’ve got the hose.  I turn, aim, trying to miss the washing and…he tries running but he doesn’t make it.  The water hits him like a homing missile.  The water looks like a light saber cutting through the air, a laser beam that never stops, a robot that's under my control.  He figures out that he cant run anywhere so he comes for me.  He grabs the hose we fight over it, he pushes me off.  As I ran to the shed I can feel the blast of energy on my back.  I make it.  I think of an idea.  I’m gonna ran on the count of three.  One…….THREE!  Where is he?  "Surprise!" he yells.  I run inside and get a towel and try to warm up.

That was Summer

Remember that time when you just arrived at the beach, you can just smell the fresh air running up your nostrils .You can just feel your feet digging in the sand.  When you get in the water it feels like your getting grabbed by a monster from behind, don’t you agree? You can here the waves crashing like glass smashing, but what you cant feel is the water drifting you away faster than you can throw a rugby ball.

BP Challenges

One of the first things we learnt about was team work.  We worked in teams on some BP Challenges.  These are challenges were we have to create something out of very few things like newspaper and sellotape.  The three challenges we did were creating a board game, creating a flag pole that raises a flag, and create something to protect an egg from dropping from a height so it doesn’t crack!!  We also came up with words to represent what we think a team is.  Come and check out our display in the classroom of all these words.
