Culture Parade

On culture day I was wearing a beautiful dress called” Gagra”. I was really shy because lots of people were looking at me, I was feeling scared too. I was especially bashful because I was doing a dance called Bharatanatyam on the stage. Two girls called Raksha and Debeya were actually doing the dance with me. Mr Campbell asked us ’’you three girls, what are you going to do today on the stage?” We informed “us three are going a dance called bharatanatyam ’’. Then we told him our names ’’Mounika , Raksha, and  Debeya’’. Mr Campbell asked us ’’do you have a USB so we can put the music on for you when you dance ’’. When we started the dance, I was feeling so nervous. Everybody was looking at us, we were feeling so scared. When we finished the dance everybody was saying to us ’’ we liked the dance and your pretty clothes ’’. When we finished the whole parade. I was feeling a bit nervous because lot of people they were asking about the dance.

I am from body-less dolls.
from Charlie and the chocolate Factory tasting all the chocolate in the Factory.
I am from painting, splashing all the colours in my mouth, it tasted like I was having nutella with water.
I am from basketball with sweaty hand bands.
It smells like I was at somebody's armpits.
I am from Dora the explorer, I got tired from exploring for other stuff.

I am from clue do, figuring out who is the murderer.
I am from gummie bears and thongs.
I am from “OMG” and “LOL”.
I am from Beyonce singing so loud I have to block my ears.
From dentists with all the pointy tools going in my mouth.

I am from scarf, wrapping it around me until I'm covered up.
Under my toys there are all of the old photos flying around.
letting me smile looking at the photos of my grandad.
I'm from the stalk getting bigger on the family tree.

YouMic's character description

During the beginning of term 1 Ms Stock spent some time working with us in Room 4.  She taught us about character description in writing, especially how to activate nouns.  This is YouMic's example:

He has short blondish hair that sticks up in the morning.  His eyes are blue mints that roll around at me.  He is not much taller than me.  He wears a new Peachgrove uniform.  But other than that just old clothes.  His hot booming voice stinks of rotten egg. That's Jacob.

Our Inquiry into Culture and Unique Knighton 4

During term 1 we have been focusing on the different cultures in our rooms.

We Tuned In - by doing a post box activity with different questions about cultures in R4.  Here are our brainstorms

We Found Out - we practiced interviewing by hot seating our friend MukAah.

We split into 6 groups to represent some of cultures present in our class

• Vanuatu

We Sorted Out and Drew Conclusions- We decided to make documentaries about these cultures and interview our friend who is from there.  To collect some of the information we discovered about these places we created Kidspiration mind maps.  Here is one to look at:
